Recalls Decoy Duck Pull Toys WASHINGTON, DC -- Artsana of America Inc. of New York, NY is voluntarily recalling approximately 54,062 Decoy Duck Pull Toys because of small parts and sharp points that could pose a fatal choking hazard to young children. This recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). When CPSC tested the ducks in accordance with regulations under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act, the screw holding the wing in place separated constituting a small part and a sharp point. The 10-inch Decoy Duck with pull cord is made of hard plastic, yellow and orange in color. It has four wheels, and movable feet, wings, eyes and beak. When pulled along the toy makes a sound that is similar to a real duck's voice. Just above the duck's right wing is the name CHICCO printed in blue. The box was labeled in part: \"No. 63002.0 Decoy Duck Made in ITALY.\" The Decoy Ducks were sold nationwide since 1987 for $10.99 each. Neither the CPSC nor the company is aware of any injuries involving this product. This voluntary recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. Consumers are urged to take these toys away from young children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a refund of the purchase price. The rubber disc-like feet constitute small parts which can cause a choking, ingestion, or aspiration hazard to children. These feet, located under the blue base, have been removed by children. The majority of the toys were sold in Toys R Us Stores. Artsana said the crib toy retailed for $5-6 and consists of four pastel-colored, hard plastic bird and flower figures separated by three small balls. Two white cords at opposite ends allow the toy to be tied on a crib, carriage, playpen or stroller. While no strangulations or injuries have been reported, Artsana is undertaking this voluntary recall because consumers who read the package instructions may leave the toy in the crib longer than is considered safe. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Chicco \"Pram Mobile II does not warn consumers that the toy should be removed when the child begins to push up on hands and knees, or has attained the age of five months. CPSC said five- month-old infants can pull themselves up to a hanging crib toy and become entangled or fall forward over it, possibly strangling. The toy contains no warning about when to remove it from a crib; moreover, the package recommends its use from birth to 18 months of age. Artsana said the Chicco crib toy is identified as item number 62926 on the package. Once removed from the package, the toy can be identified with words \"Made in Italy\" stamped on each of the plastic balls. The recalled item is a plastic baby rattle with a rubber suction cup. The top of the rattle has four balls fastened to a hub which spins on a shaft. Each ball contains two plastic pellets to provide noise as the balls are spun. The unit's hub is labeled \"Made in Italy\" and its suction cup is labeled \"CHICCO\". The rattle is identified as Model 61722 and sold in a cardboard box labeled \"Spinning Windmill Rattle, 3 months - 24 months, Artsana S.P.A., Made in Italy.\" Neither CPSC nor the firm is aware of any known injury associated with this rattle. Approximately 61,000 units were sold nationwide by the firm during the past two years for $2.95 each.
