The beds sold for approximately $150 to $300 each. Rosalco has received about 150 reports of these beds breaking; including 10 reports of alleged injury when the beds failed. The Company is out of business. Immediately stop use of these beds. The bunk beds subject to this problem (models 3006, 3007, 3026, 3027, 3206, 3207, 3226 and 3227) have metal frames made of hollow painted tubes. The glossy painted frame can be either red, blue, white or black. The beds use a standard twin size mattress on the top bunk and either a twin or full size mattress on the bottom bunk. The beds have a total of 18 crossbars to support the mattresses. The two rectangular mattress support side rails are 1 inch wide and 2 inches high, and a metal ladder attaches to the side of the bed as a separate unit. Rosalco sold slightly different versions of the bunk bed models listed above that are not subject to the problem. These beds have mattress support side rails that measure 1 1/2 inches by 3/4 inches. Only beds with side rails measuring 1 inch by 2 inches are subject to the problem. Consumers should immediately stop using affected beds as bunk beds. To determine if you have a Rosalco bed, contact the retailer to determine the importer or manufacturer of the bed. Firm is out of business. Consumers should discard or destroy the affected beds.Since December 1992, Rosalco had been distributing bunk beds with a different reinforcement bracket kit. Since the Company included these beds in its affected beds program, consumers should also discontinue use of these bunk beds. The CPSC is investigating numerous other importers and manufacturers of metal bunk beds that may present a similar risk of collapsing. To date, firms have received over 300 complaints of defective bunk beds industry-wide. CPSC urges all consumers to inspect all eight mattress support corners of all metal bunk beds for breaks or cracks in the paint and metal around the weld. This hazard may be present even though the lamp switch is in the "off" position. Brass floor lamp models 2607, 2618 and 2620 sold nationwide since January 1987 are being recalled. They sold for about $50 each. All lamps feature three metal support legs bolted to a metal central post by metal screws or bolts. - Model 2607 features a single light socket atop the center post and three planter supports at the ends of the U- shaped support legs. - Model 2618 features a triple light socket and planter supports at the ends of the support legs. - Model 2620 features a glass tea table which rests atop three C-shaped metal support legs bolted to the central post. (Oct. 15) -- Hamill Manufacturing Company, Washington, Michigan, and the Huffman Manufacturing Company, Dayton, Ohio, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, today warned consumers that 25,000 bicycle child carriers may separate from the bicycle if not carefully installed. The carriers were sold nationally under the trade name "Tote Along" during the summer of 1976. Persons who have these carriers should carefully inspect both the latching mechanism which locks the detachable child seat to the carrier and the metal clamp which attaches the front of the carrier to the bicycle frame. Before placing a child in the carrier, check to see that the seat and clamp are secure. The warning was issued after the companies reported to CPSC 10 accidents which involved either a separation of the seat from the carrier or of the carrier from the bicycle. Separation of the seat from the carrier appears to have been caused by a failure to push the seat onto the carrier far enough to secure the locking mechanism. Separation of the carrier from the bicycle may have been caused by consumer misalignment of the metal clamp components and/or extreme over-tightening of the bolt passing through the clamp.
