This is a copy of the form I filled out on the company web site. The explosion with flames shooting out of the oven door is the safety issue I'm reporting.

I purchased the range in late December 2010. On Easter Sunday after having used the oven less than 10 times, while I was baking a ham for our 12 guests, there was an explosion from the oven and flames blew out of the sides of the oven door. After that the oven would not ignite. The explosion alarmed every one present including an investigative reporter for a large CA newspaper. The igniter was replaced a few weeks later after 2 trips to the house (about 300 miles requiring two days of my time). While servicing the oven the technician noted that the welds that held a metal plate on the bottom of the oven bottom were not attached. Assuming your quality control would not permit a range to leave the factory in this condition one must assume that the explosion was strong enough to break the welds. After using the oven 2 more times since the repair, again with a house full of guests, the oven quit working, thankfully without the explosion. Several days ago I contacted the retailer where I purchased the stove and asked him to have a customer service rep call me. So far no call though he reports that he made the contact the day I called him. The performance of this appliance is dangerous and unacceptable. I would like a full remedy in an expedient fashion. Please contact me via email at your earliest convenience to establish a telephone appointment to discuss this important issue. Thank you for your consideration. [REDACTED]

The igniter was replaced and the oven quit working again. I'm afraid to use it. I contacted Viking via their web site today.
