I have a Storkcraft Glider rocking chair with an ottoman purchased from Walmart. My husband put it together. We used it for about a week and we noticed a washer on the floor. He looked at the glider and found out that it fell of the glider. He put the washer back on as tight as he could. About a week or two later it was on the floor again. We did this about 3 time’s total. One night my 8 month old daughter was crawling on the floor. My husband was sitting in the glider and I was on the couch. Our daughter was on the floor next to the glider. We heard her coughing. My husband picked her up and yelled for me to call 911. She could not breathe and was obviously chocking on something. He was trying to get whatever it was out of her throat. She was turning blue and bleeding. While I was on the phone with 911 my husband ran her to across the street to a nurse’s house. When he stepped on her porch what she was chocking on came out. It was the washer from the glider. The ambulance came and checked her out a little and suggested that we take her to urgent care. She is now ok and urgent care said that they could see trauma to her throat. This should have never happened. If the washer would not keep falling out of the glider it would have never been on floor and she would have never chocked and almost died. You can tighten the bolt as tight as you can but if you rock in the chair for a week or two it loosens up and the washer falls out.
