I bottle fed my 7 month baby in the "Safety 1st AdapTable High Chair - Tidal Pool" while it was in the recline position. She WAS buckled in. I turned around to wash out her bottle when I heard a HORRIBLE thud and turned around to see my baby on the tile floor! She had hit the floor head first! I rushed her to the ER and she was kept on observation fro 24 hours. She had fallen out b/c while in the recline position it allows child to easily slip through and lean over head first, then gravity takes over. These high chairs shouldn't even have this position as an option!!! And with the buckle, it gives parents a FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY.

Dear Consumer,

The incident you have described is unfortunate. We regret that your daughter was involved in a fall associated with her highchair and your experience with our product was less than satisfactory. While we understand from your report that the child was buckled in, we have further learned from you that the restraint was loosely fastened.

We do believe this is an opportunity to reinforce product usage information. Unless the child is securely fastened in the restraint, falls may result when an active child moves around in the seat. The following warnings are present on the instructions, and product;

INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: PREVENT serious injury or death from falls or sliding out.

• Always secure child in the restraint
• Never leave child unattended
• The child should be secured in the high chair at all times by the restraining system, either in the reclining or upright position. The tray is not designed to hold the child in the chair. It is recommended that the high chair be used in the upright position only by children capable of sitting upright unassisted.
