This is a second identical incident with this product. The first, 09/08/2011, I accepted as just an unusual accident. However, on 02/23/2012, the exact same separation of the handle from the carafe occurred.
The handle separates from the carafe during ordinary use. I'm careful with my possessions. My appliances generally last for years but this one created identical problems in less than one year.

I just realized that had either of the carafes contained hot espresso at the time the carafes fell from the handles that hot liquid and glass could have injured anyone ( or pet ) in the area. I. Guess I was lucky that they were empty each time.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. If I'm being an alarmist I'm sorry for taking your time with a trivial matter.
Incident, No Injury
Glass carafes separated from handles. I still have second handle and the first carafe which I somehow managed to catch. There was no response from my contacting Krups.
