A screw fell out of the backrest and caused the back to collapse while my child was seated in it. It is also extremely difficult to secure the tray to the chair frame. I was standing next to my child when it happened, so I was able to catch her. She did not sustain any injuries. This incident happened with my first daughter. I have stored the chair since then and just recently retrieved it for my newest addition. This is when I remembered that there was a safety problem with the chair.

I bought this highchair while pregnant with my first daughter. After the incident, I stored the chair. I recently retrieved the chair from my attic to use with my new baby. That is when I remembered why I had stopped using it in the first place.
Comment from Evenflo Company, Inc. 8/20/2012
This consumer contacted the CPSC because the seat back on her child’s Evenflo Majestic™ high chair inadvertently detached and because she was having problems keeping the tray attached. No injuries were associated with this report. The Majestic high chair was the subject of recalls announced in 2008 and 2009 to address the seat back detachment described by this consumer. This consumer also contacted Evenflo by telephone. During that call, Evenflo was able to provide this consumer with a remedy kit for the seat back and to determine that the difficulty the consumer was having with the tray assembly was due to a misplaced part necessary to attach the tray to the high chair.

Consumers who own Majestic high chairs with model numbers beginning with “300” and who were not previously aware of the recall should contact Evenflo’s ParentLink consumer resource center at 1-800-233-5921 or online at to register for a recall remedy kit. The model number for the Majestic is located on a label on the back of the seat. The Majestic, with the remedy kit installed, does not present a safety risk to children.
