My 18 month old son was not strapped into his highchair and starting moving around. He pushed on the tray with his feet, it popped out, he flew forward, face first onto our wooden flooring, on top of the tray. He immediately started screaming. Yes, I think he was more scared than anything, but when I got a chance to look at him, his face was bleeding pretty quick. Somehow, something caught his cheek and pinched it so hard it split the skin.

We still have the high chair. We never took it back.
Comment from Evenflo Company, Inc. 9/10/2012
The consumer reported to the CPSC that her 18-month old son was not restrained using the internal harness in his Evenflo® Convertible™ High Chair, and when he began moving around, he kicked the tray off and fell forward onto the tray and the floor. The child split his cheek during the incident. The Convertible High Chair is equipped with an internal restraint that meets the retention requirements of the ASTM high chair safety standard, as verified by an independent third-party laboratory; if it had been used at the time of the incident, the child likely would not have fallen out. Although the lack of use of the internal restraint and not the tray detachment likely caused this incident, Convertible High Chairs with model numbers beginning with “2911” were the subject of a recall announced June 5, 2012, for tray detachment issues. Evenflo has contacted this consumer to arrange for her to receive a replacement tray. Evenflo encourages all consumers who own an Evenflo Convertible High Chair with a “2911” model number to contact Evenflo to register for an approved replacement tray and supplemental instructions.
