Defective heating elements. For a couple years now our burners fail to turn off. Sometimes I swear they heat to a different temperature than what is selected. We constantly have to play with the knobs to try to get them to turn off the burners. One of our burners now doesn't turn off completely and we had to cut power to the stove all together and not use it. We've looked into recalls and discovered that we are not the only ones with this problem. What we've noticed is that our serial number isn't one of the many included in the current recall. Our number is very close, but not quite in the bunch that is part of the recall. Our appliances were purchased at Sears and since our serial number is not part of the recalled numbers they want to charge us a lot of money for a service contract to get it fixed! I feel this recall should include our stove since these faulty parts are not limited to just a few serial numbers.

I plan on contacting Kenmore to see if they will accept any or all of the fee required to get it fixed. I feel the recall should be extended to our model too.
