A new 6 1/2 HP Gasoline Engine (212cc) Predator Brand ([REDACTED]) was purchased from Harbor Freight approximately 1 year ago as a replacement for a tiller. The engine was left in the box for several months and later filled with oil and started with a small amount of gasoline in the metal tank. Recently I filled the tank with gasoline, restarted it, let it run for a while 30-40- minutes and shut it down. I later found moisture on the exterior of the gas tank and thinking it was condensation, wiped it dry. On a later date I discovered the same thing and discovered it was gasoline, leaking, weeping, seeping from a seam that holds the upper and lower portions of the tank together.
The seam is "crimped" metal and the gasoline appears to be coming from the upper portion of the tank. IT IS UNSAFE TO USE.
I have talked to two Managers at the Fayetteville, NC Harbor Freight Store (1/23/2013 and 1/27/2013) and their only concern was, it is out of warranty and your problem.

I reminded them that the issue was not a warranty, but a safety issue, as in unsafe to use as sold and should be recalled.

An undamaged gasoline tank should be designed and manufactured to outlast the normal expected life of the engine which can be 10 plus years.
