The consumer received a recall notice (CAP# 13-073) on 8/24/2013 and it was dated 12/18/2012.

The firm covered the service cost for the first repair, but she paid the service charge for the last 3 repairs.
The consumer has a home warranty and she paid her deductible on it.

The consumer stated that the retailer’s warranty (Best Buy, in Sherman TX) was in effect for 30 days and the washer broke down after 33 days of owning it.

On 2 occasions, the washer would not lock in place. Therefore, it would not operate. On 2 other occasions, the washer had to be serviced for excessive vibration. The consumer stated that she has only washed clothing in the machine and has “not” washed any bed clothes or heavy items in the machine.

Early 2013, a technician came out to service the machine for the excessive vibration. The consumer was not aware of the recall CAP# 13-073 at that time. The technician could not fix the issue, so a different technician came out on a different day to work on the machine. That technician ordered some type of gear for the machine and he came back out on a different day to install the part.

A date on one of the parts was: 4/10/2011, but the consumer is not sure which of the 4 service calls involved changing this gear.

(8/27/2013) The spinner stopped working on the washing machine this morning and it is currently not operational.

Same day, the consumer called the mfr. at the firm’s recall number: 855-400-4639. It was confirmed that the consumer’s washer was under recall. That initial rep. (name unknown) transferred the consumer over to a different rep. (name unknown) in the company. The technician told the consumer that there would still be a service charge on the machine. The consumer handed the phone to her husband. The husband read the recall noticed to the mfr’s tech., but the tech. reiterated that there would still be a service charge for the repair.

The consumer noted that this is the 5th time that they have experienced problems with this machine.

Grayson County Appliance Service Center, Van Alystine, TX, has been servicing the washing machine for these various issues, but they are also the approved service company for this mfr’s appliances.

There has not been any property damage, because as soon as problems began, the consumer turned the washer off and contacted the local service company
