My GE Model LVM1750DPWW Over-the-Range Microwave caught fire. The microwave was manufactured in September 2012, delivered in December 2012 and installed in June/July 2013. The fire occurred on the rear right upper rack hook. The hook began sparking and caught fire. GE sent a repairman who said it was a safety issue, that he "wished GE would tell people not to leave the racks in the ovens" and that GE would bring another microwave to the house and install it for me.

A couple days later, GE customer relations emailed me to say that the rack had not been installed properly on the hooks and that this was my fault and that they would give a small discount but would not replace the oven.

1. There is no way that the rack could be installed improperly. If it is on one or two hooks, it easily falls into the other hooks.

2. There was no way he could tell if we had, in fact, installed it improperly. The hook was burned and melted, so there was no way to put the rack on the hooks.
