Used alternatively by 3 boys now ages 6, 9 and 10 over the last several years in a normal residential environment. No unreasonable horseplay has been permitted on the beds. My biggest concern is that welds on the top bunk guardrail have broken and metal shards are protruding and have scratched the 9 year old. Also, the structure and the safety has been compromised making it unsafe for someone who may roll off the top bunk. Welds have also broken on the lower bunk foot board causing the structure of the overall bed to possibly be compromised.

If one is expected to believe that such manufacturer defects regarding safety are acceptable after warranty has expired (as the manufacturer stated to me), it implies that all bunk beds should be discarded after the warranty period to avoid unexpected injury at anytime. That does not make sense and consumers should not be subjected to such unreasonable rules.

It was damaged before, but I was unaware that it was until after injury. I contacted the manufacturer and they just stated that it was out of warranty (6 month warranty applied).
