We purchased a home with a Viking refrigerator model number VCSB423DSS serial number 121307R00031053 and it caught on fire Saturday 12/27/14. We contacted Viking and their response is attached below along with our original concerns. Please help as this wiring harness issue will eventually cause a serious injury or death.

Thank you for contacting Viking Customer Support regarding issues with your Viking refrigerator. Viking Range will be pleased to support any warranty repairs to your Viking refrigerator in accordance with the terms of the warranty as printed in the attached “Use & Care” manual. Unfortunately, our records indicate the unit is outside the manufacture warranty. This product came with a two-year full warranty for any manufacture defects confirmed by an authorized service technician and six-year full warranty for the sealed system and 12-year limited warranty that covers parts only for the sealed system. The sealed system components are listed in the manual as compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier/strainer, and connecting tubing and are covered under the limited warranty for parts only for 12 years. We regret we are unable to cover the costs of repairs.

Once again, we regret you have encountered this situation and are hopeful the above information will be helpful in resolving this matter. On behalf of Viking Range, thank you for taking the time to inform us of your situation.

Re: Viking Professional Side by Side Refrigerator
On November 17, 2014, my wife and I purchased an NV Home at [REDACTED]. One of the main reasons we purchased the home was because it contained the Viking Professional Package. The seller listed the home as having NV Homes Preferred Services for the Viking Appliances thru HADCO 800-241-9152. The homeowner’s manual/documents stated that refrigerator had a full six- year warranty.
Unfortunately, your product Viking model number VCSB423DSS serial number 121307R00031053 has not performed well because the icemaker broke and was repaired by Top Notch Appliances to the tune of $323. 95. I am disappointed because the ice maker is again broken. Top Notch Appliances came on 12-15-14 and says there is a new problem. The technician [REDACTED] stated that the wiring harness is now defective, the ice bucket needs to be replaced and to fix it this time it will cost $1,023. 26. I am so disappointed that when we called HADCO they referred us back to Top Notch Appliances as they are the only ones who repair Viking in Warrenton. I feel that the NV Homes homeowner’s manual/documents did not disclose clearly and/or misrepresented your/their warranty. When we began reviewing Consumer Complains on your product and our refrigerator the main complaints revolved around the very issues we are experiencing. I am hopeful that you will help us resolve our issues as soon as possible.
To resolve the problem, I would appreciate Viking repair my $10,000 side by side Viking Professional side by side refrigerator. Attached are copies of my records.
I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem and will wait until December 31, 2014 before seeking help from a consumer protection agency or the Better Business Bureau. Please contact me at the above address/email or by phone at [REDACTED].
