We have a Sharp Microwave Oven Drawer, Model KB6025MS, manufactured in May 2008. It has a round insert in the top of the microwave, secured by four plastic clips. The insert deteriorated over time (unknown to us, as it is difficult to see up inside the drawer), and eventually caught fire.

Comment from SHARP ELECTRONICS CORPORATION 11/2/2015
Sharp believes that this incident may have been the result of food spatter on the waveguide cover. This situation can be caused by food particles that are not properly cleaned from the waveguide cover which eventually become carbonized and result in damage to the material.
Proper cleaning of the waveguide cover per the following instructions from the operation manual (page 18) is very important.
"The waveguide cover, located on the inside top of the Microwave Drawer area, is made from mica, so it requires special care. Keep the waveguide cover clean to assure good microwave performance. Carefully wipe with a soft damp cloth any food spatters from the surface of the cover immediately after they occur. Built-up splashes may overheat and cause smoke or possibly catch fire. Do not remove the waveguide cover."
We recommend the customer contact a local Sharp Authorized Service Center for evaluation and repair.
