My son's friend received a Hoverboard from his grandma for his birthday on November 20th, 2015. He went to her house after school to pick it up. She had ordered it on Amazon and it came in the mail earlier that day. On the way home, they stopped by our home. He ended up staying. About four hours after he got the board, he plugged it in to charge in my son's room. We went to his house to get stuff for him to spend the night, within an hour, we received a call from my husband that the house was on fire. He heard a noise and thought it was my son and his friend rough housing. He yelled at them to knock it off. When the noise didn't stop, he got up to investigate. He saw flames coming from underneath the door. He kicked the door open and the hoverboard had exploded. It was shooting fire, later we realized they were the burning batteries. My husband carried the burning board through the house and threw it outside. He went back to the room to put out the fire. He then went outside to check on the hoverboard and it was still on fire. He used the garden hose to put it out. He called 911. The fire was out before they got here but we needed them for smoke removal. The hardwood floor needs to be replaced, the walls fixed from the shooting batteries, the blinds melted and his futon couch was burned. He also lost clothes and Xbox games that had melted. My husband was seen in the ER for smoke inhalation. If my husband wasn't home, the house would have burned down.
