The inner pieces that lock the lid to the main body disintegrated while the unit was shredding, and continued to run while the lid began to rise up. I do not have a receipt for this unit. I purchased it about 5 years ago. It has sat on a shelf, in a box, for many years before being used. I have used it about 10 times in 5 years. I did not know there was a recall until a few days ago when the lid locking pieces broke off into the food. While searching for a replacement lid, I found the recall notice.
On 02-17-2016, at 9:48 a.m., I called Walmart in Decatur, IL (217-864-6927). I was told that since the recall was (according to them) 6 years ago, they can't do anything about it. That's when I told them that I'll be contacting someone who will, as this is still a "recall" item. I failed to get the woman's name.......
