(4/4/16) The recliner was delivered to the consumer's home. After a few minutes of sitting on the recliner the consumer began to feel light headed and her eyes began to burn. The consumer noticed a strong chemical odor emitting from the recliner.

(4/5/16) The consumer contacted the store where she purchased the recliner to inform them about the adverse health effects the recliner is causing her. The consumer was informed that a person from their Service Department would go out to her home to inspect the recliner.

(4/7/16) The consumer states the person from the Service Department examined the recliner and advised the consumer that he did not have the symptoms she experienced. He also informed the consumer that the odor could be from the foam.

The consumer called the store again because she was still experiencing the same symptoms and the consumer was advised that another person from their Service Department would examine the recliner.

(4/16/16) The consumer states the person from the Service Department examined the recliner and advised the consumer that he did not have the symptoms she experienced. The consumer asked him to take the recliner but he said he could not take it.

The consumer has asked to return the recliner but they are charging her a 25% restocking fee and the consumer does not feel like she should pay for it because the recliner is causing her to feel ill.

The consumer has not visited a doctor. The consumer does not plan to contact the firm

We are sorry that this consumer is unhappy with her La-Z-Boy recliner. We note that two service technicians were unable to verify her complaints, and we have no reason to believe that the product is defective. Our records indicate that the same consumer purchased two La-Z-Boy recliners from a different dealer in 2013. After receiving them, she complained about a strong odor she said they emitted. She disputed her credit card charge, and the retailer gave her a full refund less the delivery charge. We hate to lose a customer, but this consumer may find that products from other companies better meet her needs.
