I have a Ryobi circular saw, CS0847 56595, Model CSB142LZK I purchased this about 7 years ago for a project. I have used it several times since then. I would say this gets little to moderate use. I was cutting a 2x6 when it began making an unusual noise. I stopped it, and noticed the blade was hitting the lower, movable blade guard. I too the blade off. The blade guard was completely loose. It is designed to sit on a round hard rubber piece that has a groove around it. A flat, circular spring is meant to hold the guard in place. The spring was off.
I re-installed the spring, it worked a few times, and the same thing occurred. This is not a worn-out issue, it is a safety issue. I believe the saw should be recalled.

I called Ryobi, but each time a recording says the rep. is not available, call again. I tried to sign into them by regestering, but the site always says something went wrong
