The consumer primarily uses the electric blanket on the “low” to “medium” settings, during the winter. The control pad started getting hot in November/December 2017 and became worse as time progressed.

1/29/2018: The consumer was using the blanket on the “low” setting and the control pad became extremely hot. She called the local fire department. The fireman advised her to discontinue use of it and unplug it from the wall outlet, which she did. The fireman also suggested that she check to see if it was recalled, but he could not confirm that it was, at the time that she called.

The consumer was not injured and there was no damage to the bedding.

The blanket may be part of CPSC Recall# 03-114. According to the CPSC release, the recall firm is out of business.
