CopperChef Magnetic Trivet

The CopperChef magnetic trivet was in reach of a two year old child. He chewed on the device and dislodged 4 very strong magnets from the under surface of the trivet. The child swallowed the magnets which entered into the intestinal tract. The magnets then attached to each other through adjacent loops of intestine and created holes in the intestine at each site of magnet attachment.

The child required emergency surgery to remove the magnets and repair the holes in the intestine. He has been critically ill and required several trips to the operating room.
