Gree manufactured dehumidifer purchased under Danby brand (we believe) in 2011 overheated and caught the surrounding paneling and basement ceiling on fire. Substantial damaged sustained in the basement and smoke/soot damage throughout the entire home. Total contents loss due to smoke damage and half of the floor will need to be replaced along with gutting entire house and sealing smoke damage out. 2 independent fire investigators have determined that it was caused by the defective dehumidifier and insurance company is pursuing reimbursement from manufacturer.
