The light was in use for approximately 2 hours, when part of the glass bulb separated from the kitchen, pendant ceiling light fixture.

The consumer heard a noise and went to check on it. Part of the light bulb’s glass separated, shot down on the counter and landed on the floor. The part that hit the floor remained intact.

The round part of the bulb that the light comes out of is plastic. However, the metal portion was extremely hot to the touch when the consumer felt it. If this part had landed on a piece of paper or something flammable, he believes that it could have easily caught fire. Additionally, part of the bulb that remained in the light fixture emitted smoke for approximately 5 minutes. There were no injuries.

The consumer turned the light off and removed the metal portion. The consumer has never had any problems with the fixture in the past.

The consumer conducted an internet search, but the firm appears to either have been sold or to have cease making residential lighting products.
