Incident Details
- Incident Description: several weeks ago I set the top oven of my maytag gemini oven to the 3-hour clean. About 2 hours into the process I started to smell something electrical burning. I could not stop the process and the system ended up tripping a circuit breaker. I reset the breaker and the oven continued until the time was up. My son looked at it the next day and all the insulation was burned off the wiring in the top oven. There was smoke on the panel on the outside of the top of the stove.
My son called Maytag and after waiting for over an hour for a response on the phone, he was eventually told that this make and model was not a part of a previous recall. Sorry--there is nothing we can do.
This was an extremely dangerous situation and one that I think should be covered. It is an expensive repair for me to make.
Over and above the danger, I was not happy with the response from Maytag and their customer service.
