Incident Details
  • Incident Description: My name is [REDACTED] and I have an eight month old daughter who recently received a V-Tech Sit-to-Stand Activity Walker. My daughter is able to sit up by herself and has begun pulling up on things in order to stand up, so I set the walker in the "standing" position, using the legs provided. She tried to pull herself up using the bar across the front, and the whole toy toppled over. If I had not been standing there to deflect the toy away from her as she fell backwards, the walker would have landed on her face. I'm very disappointed that the walker is not weighted better on the back, and that the brakes did not stop the wheels from turning as she pulled on the walker.I will not be letting her play with this toy as a walker anymore; it will only be used flat on the floor. I have alerted V-Tech about the issue, by email. Feel free to email me if you need further information.

Comments from the Manufacturer/Private Labeler
  • 1. The VTech “Sit to Stand Activity Walker” should only be used as a walker with the “activity panel” attached and will be stable if used in the manner indicated in the instruction manual. 2. The product has a wheel lock which can be engaged when using in the “sitting mode” as outlined in the instruction manual. 3. The product is thoroughly tested for safety and meets the ASTM F963 voluntary standard which exceeds any CPSIA requirements. This product passed testing for ASTM (F963-08) and since it is not classified as a ride-on toy nor a toy designed to bear the weight of an infant, there are no specific safety standards about the stability of the product.
