Associated Recall
Incident Details
  • Incident Description: We purchased our Maytag Gemini Stove in 2003. We had the same problems as the recalled product, but complained to Maytag enough that we got a new stove because we felt as thought the one we had was a "lemon" and could not bear the time it took for anymore service calls....just to have the stove malfunction and break again. Things went okay for a little while until I used the self clean and now something important keeps breaking/melting because of the heat that is produced when both ovens are on...or the self clean...or so they say. Currently we have lived with only being able to use the lower oven and no self clean. We can not afford another service call only for it to break again. We read the recall and also decided not to get it fixed because it sounds extremely dangerous...and we have 3 little ones. We were hoping the recall would be expanded by now. I believe our original stove would be a recall...but this one is a little newer. The model number on the stove we have currently matches the recall...but the serial number ends in CE. So we have just missed it. But our stove is having all of the same symptoms. We are not willing to get it fixed only to potentially endanger our lives. I am writng this letter in hopes that your compiled information will lead to an expansion on the recall. This way we may be able to enjoy our product as we intended or a new one and anyone else that has the same stove will not get hurt.
