Incident Details
  • Incident Description: I wanted to alert you to a possible FIRE HAZARD in an electric oven/stove that I own (Maytag Gemini series), and whose model number is MER6872BAS. Recently, the rocker-type switch on the right side of the control panel that allows the user to switch between a large and a small stove burner (manufacturer's Part #74006467) became "frozen"/inoperable. Around that time it was noticed that an electrical burning smell was experienced but the source was never pinpointed. Upon further investigation, it was found that the switch apparently became very overheated and actually melted the interior components of the switch as well as the exterior housing. Is there any kind of a recall that has been issued for this part or this model oven/stove in general? Please advise. Thank you.
