Incident Details
  • Incident Description: We own a Maytag Gemini oven and range combo. The model number is MER6872BAS. The serial number is 18487235CJ. Yesterday my 2 1/2 year old son stuck a spatula into a gap in the front underside of the range. The spatula touched the electrical contacts for the hot surface indicator light. Sparks flew, part of the spatula melted, and the breaker blew. Luckily the spatula had a plastic handle so he was not electrocuted. I'm not sure what the purpose of this hole is. I think this is a dangerous design and want to make sure that nobody else is hurt in the same way.
