Incident Details
- Incident Description: On November 27th, 2018 the Maytag washing machine Model MFW9700SB1 was being used for regular laundry. When in the "Extra High" spin cycle, the machine went out of control causing the blow-out of the plastic front sides and the top and bottom front plastic panels. The metal box remained intact. This included the door locker breaking and opening the door, the soap holder drawer and the bottom and top panels flying off causing them to hit the walls. The unit itself lifted off the ground and landed onto the 4" diameter dryer vent which was laying on the ground in the back of the machine. The washer moved forward dragging the vent approximately 18" blocking the exit door. With the door blown open, the tub continued to spin at a very high rate and the machine continued to shake and move. It was only stopped when the power was shut down. No one was in the laundry room at the time. The unit has now been moved back to its original location to allow clear access to the door.
