Consumer reports that their 1 YOF child was in the shower with them and slipped on the plastic shark toy meant to float. She was taken to the hospital and received 7 sutures In her groin area. Consumer believes the fin is too sharp and a laceration hazard.

  • Incident Description: 9/12/2020: The consumer and her 1 year old daughter were in the shower. The daughter slipped and fell on the toy baby shark and began bleeding in her groin area. The daughter had internal bleeding and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The daughter received 5 sutures in one part of her groin and 2 sutures in another part of her groin area. The daughter is scheduled for a future follow up visit. The consumer said that the toys is approximately the size of a person's hand and are designed to float. She believes that the fin part is too sharp. The consumer may follow up with the retailer and the manufacturer.

In addition to pre-market testing, the product is also subject to extensive ongoing quality control procedures once it has entered the market.
