Consumer reports that their 5 YOM got sucked under the treadmill while it was running. His pants came completely off as they were sucked up. They were able to lift the machine and pull him free but this could have been much worse than burns from the machine. Safety hazard.

Incident Details
  • Incident Description: Hello,  I am writing to inform you that this year my 5 year old child was also in a Peleton accident involving the Treadmilll+. I hadn't reached out before as this was not my equipment rather a friend's. I was not aware I'd safety features as it did not belong to us. I had posted about it on my social media in hopes to prevent this from happening to others.  It reads "We were at a friend's house last night and [REDACTED] was got sucked under their treadmill. We heard him screaming like I'd never heard him before. When we got to him he was under their treadmill while it was still running. Our friend lifted the treadmill off of him and we were able to pull him out. The belt had pulled his pants off of him and crated burns on him. His clothes bought him time from being so much worse. He told me didn't want to die, he was so scared. Kids have died and suffered severe burns to their body and hands. Please make sure you keep the safety mechanisms in place even if you only have children visiting your homes. It can happen. So quickly. I still can't even wrap my mind around what happened." There was the odd red ring around his neck which I later figured out was from his shirt bring pulled down. His head, neck, top of his shoulders were the only thing sticking out while the belt ran on him. It is clear he was sucked under. He still talks about this day, I have this odd fear when I run on a treadmill at the gym now. My friends kids point to that area and say that's where [REDACTED] almost died.
