73 YOM consumer reports that his memory foam mattress contains fiber glass and he was naware of it until he inspected the unit and unzipped the cover. He suffered itchy hands as a result that went away in a week. He is concerned that there aen't better warnings.

Incident Description: Shopping for a new mattress or topper. Investigated Federal Materials content label on existing mattress. Noted on this label that mattress FP sock contains 50% Glass Fiber. Looked for Consumer Product Safety bulletins related to fiberglass content in mattresses and also checked topic via web search. Noted concern related to fiberglass fibers escaping the foam mattress cover if removed, laundered or damaged. I inquired of the manufacturer regarding any precautionary information that may have been provided with the mattress when purchased in 2012. They replied that there was no such information provided. "Memory Foam" mattress in nightly use since 2012 by adult sleepers. Mattress beginning to lack support. No injuries noted with exception of chronic itch of hands that likely occurred during handling and examination. (Unzipped mattress cover partially during check for labeling). Symptoms subsided in approx 1 week.
