Incident Details
  • Incident Description: I purchased a HoFish bed-in-a-box foam mattress from Wayfair a little over a year ago. We recently removed the removable cover from this mattress to wash it, just as the care tag says. After we washed it, we put it back on the mattress along with our black bedding on the bed and started noticing small shiny fibers saturating the sheets, pillows, and comforter. I started to become itchy and having asthma flare ups. When shining a light on the fibers to try to see what they were, I was shocked! Everything looked like it was covered in glitter. The mattress' care tags say to remove the cover and wash in cold water, it does not say you cannot remove it. We threw away the bedding and used a lint roller on the mattress cover to try and remove these fibers and placed fresh bedding on. Only to notice these fibers have returned and completely saturating this bedding too. We are noticing it on our clothing, our furniture, and even on our cell phone screens.
