- Incident Description: Our adult son was washing dishes and an ice cream scoop end cap blew off making a terrific noise, not unlike a shotgun being discharged. He felt something whiz by his arm. At the time we didn't know what had happened. The two persons in the kitchen, our son and my wife (his Mom) were unhurt. I was in the adjoining living room with two grandchildren when we heard the loud bang. There were no injuries. When I went into the kitchen I discovered the ice cream scoop in the sink with the end cap. Our son found an inner cap about 6' away on the floor. There was an oily smell in the dishwater and some discoloration of the water. Thankfully, nobody was injured.
