Incident Details

Incident Description: Whirlpool Refrigerator/freezer...severed wires in freezer door harness from opening and closing freezer door. First lights in the freezer stopped working, then ice maker stopped working. Appliance repair came out and stated the wiring harness had severed and attempted to order a harness. Harness is no longer available. Severed wires are a shock and fire hazard; later on smelled plastic overheated or melting and contacted Whirlpool around October 5, 2021. On October 28 Whirlpool repair came out and they stated it required a whole new door, which they ordered. After almost 6 months the replacement door has never arrived and Whirlpool now admits it's unlikely it will ever arrive as they have no idea what the status is. A week ago Whirlpool agreed to give us an allowance of 50% towards a new refrigerator freezer but nothing reasonable suitable is in stock for us to choose from across any of their brands, although suitable models are available through [REDACTED] and other stores.
