Incident Description: From a Zenus memory gel foam mattress we bought at Walmart. Not sure of when it was made or the serial numbers. It is not the point of this specific mattress it is the fact that our FDA allows our products to be made this way and most consumers have no clue! Fiberglass shards were released from this mattress. There was a class action lawsuit and of course no money was actually awarded to the consumer. We had glass everywhere! In our house, food, air handler, clothes, linens, furniture, refrigerators, and on ourselves! Needless to say EVERYTHING had to be thrown out. Air handler had to be replaced and ALL our clothes, bedding, other mattresses, furniture…etc.! But that was not the worst part! We ingested these shards of glass. We were so sick. Our bodies had became so inflamed. Headaches, blurry vision, our limbs just stopped working because of the inflammation, and our bodies immune system finally started to fail because of the exposure. It has been 2 years, about give or take, and we are still healing physically. We have no idea of the long term health effects this will cause and this kind of thing should never had happened. Now I bought the zenus gel foam mattress, but there are MANY different types that have this fiberglass sock or removable cover on them or a non removable topper if fiberglass! What the…? No fiberglass any kind should be on people’s bedding, furniture, or anything. Please stop this practice. It is horrible and consumers have no idea that they are sleeping in a sprayed toxic fiberglass sock.
