- Incident Description: I purchased two memory foam twin mattresses from Amazon in 2017.
The mattress were used with my toddler and 5 year old at the time. We still have the mattress.
Both children developed persistent allergies that continued for years. One needed nasal turbinates surgery as a result of her constantly inflamed sinuses .
I never thought to check my mattress as l frequently wash the bedding of young children .
I needed a new bed for my 6 yr old and decided to look into purchasing the same mattress because l do indeed love the feel of it. Upon looking at current AMAZON reviews, l noticed many people commenting about the mattress shedding fiberglass.
I called the manufacturer listed on the mattress AMERIWOOD HOME. But they referred me to DHP products. I asked the representative to check the model # of my bed and inform me whether or not fiberglass was used in the bed and after speaking to two representatives...it is confirmed. The second representative went as far as saying they didn't use fiberglass but when she checked the model # of my bed, she retracted her statement and said that they haven't used fiberglass after 2017 ( conveniently so--- since l purchased my two twin beds in 2017)

Current Amazon reviews of this bed ALSO mention Fiberglass shedding
There is no warning on the mattress cover to advise against removal of the cover.
No indication of fiberglass used .
I was offered no solution.
Correcting this issue will be VERY costly .
MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO SOLUTION. NO REPLACEMENT. NO REFUND IN THE LEAST. ALL I WANT IS FOR OTHERS TO KNOW THE HEALTH THREAT INVOLVED. There is still no information listed on the product page to earn those who purchased the beds in 2017 or before.
It is an excellent feeling mattress...but not worth potential health risks

- If yes to any, explanation: There is no warning to indicate that the cover should not be removed. As it is a twin sized mattress and is likely used with Toddlers and young children a warning would have been the minimum for such a product. Company offered.
