Product Details
- Product Description: It is a Casper mattress, I believe it's the original one, and was purchased in 2017; according to research, Casper admits that there is fiberglass in the "fire sock" which is beneath the mattress cover, which actually has a broken zipper and cannot be placed back onto the mattress, further exposing me and my dog, and housemates even. The mattress is a full size. There are no labels on the mattress to indicate there is fiberglass, and there are no warnings about removing the cover to wash.

Incident Details
- Incident Description: I have been sleeping on this Casper mattress for years, but recently, within the past months at the very least, I've noticed these shiny threads all over the place, they're hard to see unless you shine a light on them, but when you do shine your flashlight onto the sheets, pillows, and yes, even my clothes, you see that these threads are everywhere.
My mattress tags do not indicate any fiberglass is used, but it is clear from research and from first hand experience and being able to see it visibly, that this mattress does use fiberglass in it's "fire sock" , but none of this is mentioned, and the website and labels even indicate that there is no issue with taking the mattress cover off to clean, which is what I did and I believe that this is the reason it's now more visible than ever.
When I wake up in the mornings, I have a hard time breathing (asthma) and have to use my inhaler more than usual. I am just so shocked that this is legal in the first place, and that no warnings are clearly labeled anywhere on the mattress. My dog has also been exposed to this and it is my hope that she hasn't suffered any lasting damage, and of course I hope the same for myself.
In hindsight though, since I don't really know how long I've been exposed, a lot of sinus infections, and respiratory infections and issues I've experienced could have been caused by this exposure.
I reached out to the manufacturer Casper, and there is a 10 year warranty on the mattress, so I believe they're going to eventually come and pick the mattress up, and even told me they have a "special team" of people who deal with this sort of thing.
