5 MOF was put to sleep with pacifier in middle of air mattress on baby pillow lounger on her back with blanket covering her body, between mother & 13 YOM. In the morning baby was found unresponsive. 911 was called & baby was transported to ED where she was pronounced.

  • Incident Description: A five-months-old baby has been fed bottle of formula by mom then put to sleep with a pacifier around 0230 AM in middle of an air mattress on a "baby lounger" on her back with a blanket covering her body. Mom and her thirteen-year-old brother, each laid either side of the decedent. Mom woke up around 0700 hours to get ready for school and did not notice the decedent was unresponsive. Grandmother who came to the room to get the baby found her unresponsive. 911 was called and transported her to ED where she was pronounced.

This report was originally submitted with a photo of a product that is not a GooseWaddle product and does not resemble any products sold by GooseWaddle. We had not heard of the incident prior to this report, and cannot verify that it was GooseWaddle’s product that was involved. We remind caregivers that the Pello floor cushion is intended only for children over 1 year old and should never be used for sleep. Babies should always sleep alone, on their back, with no cushions or loose bedding, in a product that is specifically intended for infant sleep.
