  • Incident Description: A Ring battery doorbell camera was mounted on a metal door at a residence and appeared to be installed correctly and in normal use. Sometime during the overnight hours the rechargeable battery pack went into thermal runaway, and caught the wood trim, plastic door seal, and leaves outside on fire. The doors were on a carport with lattice to separate the carport. Fire burned itself out when the fire ran out of readily available combustible materials. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
