Report Summary

CX bought a squeeze toy for their friend’s daughter. Upon checking for safety info, no recalls associated w/ the toy were found. However, toy released a strong chemical smell, raising concerns about potential chemical exposure & possible long-term health risks. No injuries.

  • Incident Description: I heard about a recent recall on products involving the "viral" Squishy Dumplings. I had bought on from a company with "Rainbow Surprise Mystery Squishy Dumpling" on the label for my friend's daughter. After reading about concerns with recalls, they had mentioned the chemical Benzene as being a primary and serious concern for safety and long-term health risks. As of right now it does not appear there are any safety recalls or alerts for this squishy dumpling or any other types of mysterious squishies on the market here in the USA. After opening the dumpling there is a very noticeable and strong odor of paint thinner or other strong chemical. I am worried there is significant concern of a chemical exposure and risk to long-term health side effects directly caused by this toy. The label only warns of a choking hazard and is reportedly imported by Canada, inc. There is nothing to indicate what type(s) of materials these are made with.
