Report Summary

Hoverboard was in closet with clothes, sat on floor for about three weeks when consumer was woke up by electrical burning smell. Hoverboard was smoking. Consumer grab it & threw it outside. Hoverboard caught on fire & burnt carpet & hallway flooring. It wasn’t on charge.

  • Incident Description: Hoverboard just sat on floor for about three weeks. About 6am I was woken up by an electrical burning smell. I woke my wife and baby up and made them leave house. I searched frantically flipping main breaker to my house. I look over and hoverboard is smoking I turn and grab hoverboard and it catches on fire. I didn’t get injured but my carpet and hallway flooring were Burnt. I threw the hover board outside while it was on fire. If I hadn’t woke up and did what I did I would had certainly lost my home and maybe family. The hoverboard was in closet with clothes. It wasn’t on charge or anything just sitting there. I have photos of damage and of hoverboard if you need them.
